I have been using Garmin Pilot for over 3 years. Overall I have absolutely loved it, especially with my ability to use on both my Samsung Tablet and Samsung Phone (great for the smaller seat on the DA42), but recently I got an iPad and now I love it even more.
I mostly appreciate the fact that Garmin Pilot is the same interface as the Garmin equipped aircraft I fly, be it the GNS 430, or the G1000. From a “compare and contrast” standpoint, my understanding is that it is incredibly similar to ForeFlight, except for the direct Garmin integration and interface.
I love that it directly connects to my GDL ADSB receiver that I stick on the window.
Admittedly the Android version was a bit more limited in feature sets, and I definitely admire the capabilities on the iOS version, but it is clear that the Android version is quickly catching up. For me, any software that can reliably and seamlessly work across popular platforms is a hands down win.
Most importantly, and perhaps the biggest win of all, has been the EXCELLENT responsive customer service from Garmin. They had a few issues about 6 months ago with a major update, and before I could get too frustrated, a simple email to their support had it resolved within a few days, with direct communication from their support engineers. They guided me through the steps to send them more detailed logs, and I got personal, valuable, and excellent service to make right what went wrong.
Simply put, Garmin Pilot is perfect for my aviation journey as I advance into my CFI instruction, be it Android or iOS, it is simply excellence.
